Yoda rocks, no doubt there. Ep 1 Yoda just sucked. He looked crappy, not lifelike. Man, Empire was the best, right up there with ATOC. Yoda in ROTJ looked good. man, it just pissed me off. i've seen muppets look better that that.

EDIT (by YodaJeff): I changed the title so that it would be open for discussion and would sound a lot less like bashing.

I understand why you don't think that the Yoda puppet in The Phantom Menace didn't look all that great. Especially after seeing the computer generated Yoda in Attack of the Clones, I know that many people wish that they could have seen that Yoda in the Phantom Menace. I'll agree, it doesn't look a lot like the Yoda seen in the original trilogy. It also doesn't look a lot like the Yoda seen in Attack of the Clones. However, it looks enough like Yoda so that people realise that it is Yoda.

Try and look at it this way. He was ten years younger. Happy (Yahoo)

Funny how the puppet held up perfectly well in ESB and ROTJ.

One of the comments Frank Oz made a decade ago when he saw the advent of digital creatures on the horizon was that there is something about an actual human behind the puppet that gave Yoda a very human quality with which I easily empathized. Tweeking eye brows with a computer mouse is still a mechanical act, while the movement of a human hand is still performed naturally and with a lot of skill.

Listen to Yoda teaching Luke about the Force in ESB is still more compelling than I can imagine if those scenes were redone with a digital Yoda.

Yoda is the man and he always looks good. But the worst version of him was the phantomn menace by far. I think thee computer yoda in ep 2 is class but his voice needs to be changed.

When Lucas releases the rumored "Ultimate Edition," he should probably replace the TPM Yoda puppet with the CGI Yoda.

I really hope George does change the TPM Yoda in a "Ultimate Edition" if he ever makes such a thing. I really don't like that puppet.

Interestingly, I must agree with everyone here.

Isn't it odd that the Yoda in TPM doesn't quite stack up to the puppet used in Empire and Jedi? With the advances in technology, what they ended up using wasn't quite right, and a lot of people feel it.

Yes. The puppet from Empire and Jedi works, and it's classic.

Change the Yoda in Phantom Menace to the CGI version in AOTC and we'll have only two versions of our favorite Jedi Master. Two versions that most people agree upon.

First off hello yes mmmmm Tongue (Yahoo)

I think it should also be noted though that its purely enviromental. The first Yoda that you all saw and were exposed too was of course the older Yoda from the first Trilogy. Of course you would favor it because who doesn't favor originals eh yes??? I'm quite a bit younger though I was still exposed to the original yoda but at the same time I'm also from generation x so I tend to be indifferent between both Yoda's, TPM's Yoda appeals to my technological tastes, where as the older Yoda still has his place because he's what I first saw and was enthralled by.

Well supposedly the puppet will be replaced by CGI in a future edition of TPM.
