Speculation on Yoda's necklace (blissl)

Earlier this week, T-Bone updated his site with a guest editorial on Yoda's necklace, the blissl. Here's a short excerpt:

In a recent post, Starwars.com answered a question that I have been wondering about for years. It stated that the "thing" around Yoda's neck is a blissl, which is similar to a pan flute. If Yoda wears this around his neck, then it obviously means something to him, especially since he is definitely an ascetic and doesn't keep many material possessions. The blissl may be a prized keepsake of his own master or a cherished relic that was passed down from some other special person. Most likely, however, he plays this blissl instrument himself. Both heroic historic and mythical figures as well as martial arts movie heroes often play instruments. The kung fu master sitting alone playing his flute is a common motif.
