Disney to Acquire Lucasfilm Ltd.

The Walt Disney Company has announced that they are acquiring Lucasfilm, including the entire Star Wars franchise.

Included in the announcement is that they plan to release a new Star Wars movie, Episode VII in 2015, with Episodes VIII and IX to follow as part of the new sequel trilogy. Afterwards, as part of a long term plan, they plan to release a new film every two to three years.
